MoP Herbalism Gold Making EP.2: 1,665g Per Hr - Best Herb Routes: Valley of the Four Winds
What's up guy and girl players of WoW. Tarou here and in this video, I'm going to show you the best routes for Herbalism in the Valley of the Four Winds.
In this episode, I'll show you two herb routes I like to use in the Valley of the Four Winds. Before you begin your farming adventures, make sure you have plenty of bag space by sending items off to an alt or storing in your bank, fully buffed, and repaired. Having at least one herb bag can be helpful.
You'll need to have atleast 545 in Herbalism to get started although 575 is best. If you have a Gnomish Army Knife, gathering enchant, or a racial buff this can be less of course. To give you a general idea of the potential of this zone I will be hitting up the two different routes on the map 30 minutes each. I draw my routes manually by using an addon called Routes. Mostly we'll be gathering Green Tea Leaf and Silkweed but we'll also occassionally find Golden Lotus. Silkweed will always be near water and it's our preference for gathering on this route since it usually sells for more than Green Tea Leaf.
Best Herbalism Routes - Valley of the Four Winds Herb Path #1
When you fly through the Heartland area of the map, you can also mult-task by farming the Dark Soil mounds found all over the place. For a detailed video on gathering that up and getting best friends with everyone around, check out the video I have on the screen. It's really easy.
For this first route, I've pretty much lined it without running into any anoying vermin but there might be a few areas that you'll need to pop cooldowns and AoE them down to quickly get the herb and get out if you aren't a Druid.
Other than that this route is super simple but a bit larger than my normal ones. I do that because of the increased competition you'll find in VoTFW.
Herbalism - Valley of the Four Winds Route #1:
Green Tea Leaf x 93
Silkweed x 286
Golden Lotus x 5
After 30 minutes we picked 379 herbs and 5 Golden Lotus. Mediocre numbers for the valley but, competition was high. I saw 3 other Druids and a few others flower picking.
Alright now on to the second route. Inside the routes addon, I hide route 1 and uncheck hide for route #2.
Best Herbalism Routes - Valley of the Four Winds Herb Path #2
I really like route 2 the best for here for the amount of herbs you get but the main herb will change from Silkweed to Green Tea Leaf. Which is ok since we'll likely get more overall herbs.
This route is also smaller and you'll be flying through it much quicker. It'll also take you through a sha-touched area on the west side of the zone that'll net a variety of herbs to mix things up.
Again though expect a lot of competition especially near the Heartland section. The level 90 presence is very high with Halfhill Market, Galleon, and other things to do at top level. It's a great place to hang out while waiting on queues to pop too. Just make some laps around my routes and grab up some herbs while you wait.
I mentioned it in the Jade Forest video but just a reminder it really pays to have Mist-Piercing Goggles. These give you a chance to find extra herbs. You can find them on the Auction House or have an Engineer make them for you. They'll get you your gold back in a day or so and you don't even need to equip them or even soul-bind them. Just leave them in your bags and they'll do the work. You can tell they are working by the mist over some of the herbs. Herbalism - Valley of the Four Winds Route #2: Green Tea Leaf x 310 Silkweed x 84 Snowlily x 14 Desecrated Herb x 8 Golden Lotus x 3 Ok so we finished up our second route's 30 minute session with 416 herbs which was a bit higher than our first route but we only ended up with 3 Golden Lotus. That's decent and now all we left to do is go back to town and list everything on the Auction House. All herbs will go up in full stacks and singles for Golden Lotus with a timer of 12 hours.
The main addon I use for listing gathering items is Auctionator. When listing any mats you can pretty much ignore the singles or stacks made up of a few that are way underpriced. Don't bother undercutting them and instead price above them. Anyone buying herbs will need more than just a few and will be forced to buy your stacks at the higher, most likely more reasonable price.

Green Tea Leaf x 93 = 126.90g (27.30g / stack)
Silkweed x 286 = 429g (30g / stack)
Golden Lotus x 5 = 331.10g (66.22g ea.)

Total = 887g in 30 minutes
Herbalism - Valley of the Four Winds Route #2:
Green Tea Leaf x 310 = 423.15g (27.30g / stack)
Silkweed x 84 = 126g (30g / stack)
Snowlily x 14 = 19.15g
Desecrated Herb = 10.97g
Golden Lotus x 3 = 198.66g (66.22g ea.)

Herbalism - Valley of the Four Winds Route #1 & #2 Total:

Grand Total = 1,665g in one hour
After a day everything sold but the overall selling prices were weaker than normal for my server.
Adding both routes together totalled 795 mixed herbs and 8 Golden Lotus which amounted to 1,665g for an hour of farming. That is a bit weak and mostly due to those lower selling prices and the increased competition. Now don't let that deter you from adventuring into the Valley of the Four Winds to do some herb picking. It is still a great zone and very functional for mult-tasking.
